RESEARCH

NOBODY EVER GOT WORSE AT ANYTHING BY PRACTISING

  • Primary research includes questionnaires, surveys and focus groups. It also covers meetings with practitioners, self-teaching and going to events. Use primary research to find out more about your audience and your proposed idea.

  • Secondary research is finding out about things by looking them up on the internet and in books/magazines/journals etc. The purpose of research is to find out as much about something as you can, not as little.

  • Experimental research is practising something you are either not very good at or haven’t done before. This is most likely to be a technical skill but could also be using new software like Celtx or Photoshop.

  • Production research is the process of booking and testing the right equipment for the shoot, finding suitable locations, casting actors, booking locations, gaining permissions
